  1. 2008: FPG Entered the New Energy Industry

    To promote the concept of energy conservation and carbon reduction, Formosa Plastics Corporation actively entered the new energy industry and established “Formosa Lithium Iron Oxide Corp.” in order to fully invest in the research and development, production, and sale of the key materials for lithium iron batteries. In doing so, the company officially achieved a foothold in the field of new energy.

  2. 2010: Formosa Biomedical Technology Corp. Battery Project Team

    Sandy Wang, the Chairperson of Formosa Biomedical Technology Corp., gathered together experts to establish the battery project team. At the start, lithium iron batteries were promoted within the Formosa Plastics Group based on their features of energy conservation and environmental friendliness. Additionally, the company made continuous improvements to battery quality, performance, and safety, and actively transitioned to smart technology, thus expanding emerging application areas and deployment for future new energy markets in advance.

  3. 2014: FPG Entering Overseas Markets

    The battery project team at Formosa Biomedical Technology Corp developed lithium iron battery products that were high-performance, safe, and environmentally friendly. After improving our capabilities and building our reputation in Taiwan, the company successfully entered overseas markets and sold various lithium iron battery systems in China, Vietnam, and the Philippines.

  4. 2016: FPG Entering US Markets for the First Time

    Formosa Biomedical Technology Corp.'s lithium iron battery products continued to expand their international footprint. The company started expanding outside of Asia by officially entering the US market and successfully selling products to Texas and Louisiana.

  5. 2018: Lithium Iron Battery Obtained Full Safety Certification

    Formosa Biomedical Technology Corp.’s lithium iron battery products obtained benchmark international safety certifications thanks to their safety, stability, and excellent quality. These certifications include UL1973, UN38.3, IEC62619, UL1998, UL/IEC 60730-1, S-JET and JISC 8715-2 of UL JAPAN.

  6. 2020: Implementation of High-Voltage Energy Storage System Containers

    Formosa Biomedical Technology Corp. has successfully developed 1.5 MW lithium iron battery and energy storage containers for use in Taiwan's power grid. This system has been successfully installed at the Changhua coastal energy storage demonstration plan, representing an important milestone for Formosa Biomedical Technology Corp. as it secures its place in the field of new energy.

  7. 2022: Establishment of Formosa Smart Energy

    FPG, Nan Ya Plastics Corporation, Formosa Petrochemical Corporation, Formosa Chemicals & Fibre, and Formosa Biomedical Technology Corp. jointly invested NT$7 billion to establish Formosa Smart Energy Tech Corp. It aims to integrate the group's upstream, midstream, and downstream resources and is dedicated to establishing green renewable energy industry chains based on four main aspects, namely "energy conservation, energy storage, new energy, and recycling".

  8. 2023: Groundbreaking of Taiwan’s Largest Battery Cell Plant

    Through the subsidiary “Formosa AdvEnergy Technology Corp.”, Formosa Smart Energy established Taiwan’s largest 5GWh lithium iron phosphate battery cell plant. The first phase of the groundbreaking ceremony was held on April 12, 2023, enabling Taiwan’s battery industry chain to take a big step forward to localization.
