Solar Power at Battery Cell Factory: Over 1 Million kWh Generated Annually
In 2023, Formosa Smart Energy Tech established Taiwan’s largest lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery cell plant in the Changhua Coastal Industrial Park—not only to advance battery localization but also to set new benchmarks for sustainable manufacturing.
The facility’s rooftop is fully equipped with high-efficiency solar panels, generating over 1 million kilowatt-hours (kWh) of clean electricity annually—sufficient to power the entire office area year-round.
Combined with a range of energy-saving design features, the plant reflects our commitment to renewable energy adoption and actively contributes to Taiwan’s carbon reduction goals.

In alignment with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)—including clean energy, sustainable cities, and climate action—renewable energy has become more vital than ever.
Since 2013, the Formosa Plastics Group has been actively deploying photovoltaic systems, and in recent years, has conducted a comprehensive rooftop inventory across its plants, dormitories, and parking structures. An additional 184.3 MW of solar capacity is now in the planning pipeline.
